An elephant is Thai national animal and has been long associated with Thai life, especially in ancient times.

Besides, an elephant is a one of protector of Thai independence and they are Thai symbols which Thai people believe that elephants are a symbol of strength, durability, and longevity. Thus, many places in Thailand were decorated with elephant symbols such as temples, theme parks, houses, and even famous Thai drinks.

Therefore, Thais appointed elephants to be Thai national animals, which on March 13 of every year will be Thai Elephant Day as an honor of the elephant and let Thai people turn their attention, help, and preserve the elephants.
